The Color Guard Instructor Position

In this role, your primary goal will be to cultivate a positive learning atmosphere that aligns with the vision set by the band director.

  • Ensure student safety during all activities.
  • Work closely with band directors to define marching arts show concepts and goals.
  • Prepare effective lesson plans for classes and rehearsals.
  • Develop and implement training programs focused on body movement, endurance and conditioning, and equipment handling.
  • Create and teach choreography for all performances.
  • Mentor assistant instructors and guide students in their development.
  • Collaborate with directors on contest schedules and prepare students for competitions.
  • Analyze the contest judge's comments and address areas for growth.
  • Assist in recruiting talent for the upcoming season.
  • At least one year of experience working with a color guard or possess a degree in education
  • Access to reliable transportation to assigned schools
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage students of varying skill levels
  • Professional demeanor and adherence to school rules
  • Successful completion of background checks required by the state and school district

The Color Guard Tech Position

As a color guard tech, you will support the color guard instructor in ensuring a productive environment for all participants and meeting the goals set by the band director.

  • Help the color guard instructor achieve program goals by supporting class activities and rehearsals.
  • Instruct students on proper technique during training.
  • Work within the fundamental training program established by the color guard instructor.
  • Assist in cleaning and perfecting choreography for performances.
  • Help recruit new talent for the following season.
  • Aid in various other duties as assigned by the color guard instructor or band directors.
  • At least a high school diploma
  • At least one year of experience in a color guard program
  • Access to reliable transportation to assigned schools
  • Effective communication skills and patience with students
  • Professionalism and compliance with school regulations
  • Successful completion of background checks required by the state and school district
